Evans, who won the Welsh Women’s Premier League ‘Player of the Season’ award in 2018 after finishing as Cardiff’s top goal scorer for a third season in succession, took a year out during the 2018-19 campaign and has joined the club looking for new challenge.
Initially, Evans operated as a left back but moved into a central striker role several years ago which proved to be a successful transition, becoming one of the premier leagues most feared strikers.
The signing is a major coup for the club who are looking to build on a successful 2018/19 season having finished runners-up in the Welsh Women’s League and winning the South Wales FA Cup for a second year in a row.
On signing for the club Evans commented, “I am really happy to have signed for Barry Town Utd. I think they are going to be the perfect club for me to find the love for the game again. I am super excited to get started and be part of a well-structured club and I am looking forward to pre-season and the challenges ahead.”
Evans will meet her team mates as the squad assemble for pre-season in early July and Ladies Manager, Luke Williams added, “Shannon is an excellent signing for this football club and I am delighted to welcome her to Jenner Park. Her record speaks for itself and for us to attract a player of her quality just shows how far we have come in a short space of time. She will add real quality in an area we needed to improve the squad and we are looking forward to working with her.”
The Ladies currently have 5 pre-season matches arranged starting at the end of July.
